Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup plain flour
- 1 1/2 cups cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup water
Preparation
- Cream the butter, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture, then fold in the chocolate chips.
- Grease an 8-inch springform pan. Spoon the batter into the pan, smooth the surface, and loosely cover with aluminium foil.
- Add water to the Instant Pot and place a trivet at the bottom. Set the cake pan on the trivet, secure the lid, and pressure cook on high for 30 minutes. Allow a 10-minute natural release before releasing remaining pressure.
- Carefully remove the cake, slice while warm, and serve as is or with cream or ice cream.
